Balaram Palace had been functional as the weekend retreat and hunting resort of the Lohanis. They were the rulers from Jalore in South western Rajasthan who moved on to Palanpur after Jalore was annexed. The Balaram Palace Resort was established between 1920s and 30s during the rule of H. H. Nawab Saheb Sir Taley Muhamad Khan Lohani. The palace is now operational under the vigilance of a private entrepreneur.
